It is with regret that we have to announce the demise of John Wynne, a founder member of the Llandanwg Dunes protection Group, and his son John "Ben" Wynne, both in the same month. Ben has worked hard for the group during the last few years.

Following the sad news of the passing our our fellow member, Ben Wynne, we would like to pay tribute to him, both for his contribution to our Group, and also for his friendship and the pleasure he brought to our lives.

During his tragically shortened life, Ben had been an accomplished competitive sailor, a Royal Air Force officer, a scientist/engineer working within the now-privatised sector of the Ministry of Defence; and latterly he had taken over the running of his parents' farm.

Ben was blessed with a keen intellect together with a strong character; he also acted invariably with the utmost integrity. As a staunch supporter of the Llandanwg Dunes Protection Group and its aims, he was foremost in contributing unstintingly to the Group's efforts to pursue measures to protect the dunes from damage and decline. His contributions were crucial in obtaining the necessary permissions from the official organisations to allow the Group's initiatives to proceed.

In addition to his fine qualities and his accomplishments, he was also one of the nicest people one could meet. Our Group and our community will be the poorer for his passing.

Our thoughts are with his family at this sad and terribly difficult time.
